Federal Policy

Immigration and National Sovereignty

  • Slash migration numbers to sustainable levels prioritising Australian citizens.
  • Ensure that Australia’s migration settings are determined through accountable domestic institutions, consistent with Australia’s applicable international legal obligations.
  • Publish transparent analysis of migration’s effects on GDP per person, wages, housing, healthcare and infrastructure, and reform settings that place unsustainable demands on services.
  • Set a policy target for annual net overseas migration of no more than 100,000 and examine visa settings, departures and other measures needed to pursue it, while reviewing skilled, family and humanitarian pathways.
  • Consider temporary visa and international student settings in light of housing and service capacity, and propose sovereignty impact assessments.
  • Strengthen national interest screening for strategically important land and infrastructure.
  • Review national security implications of high-risk connected vehicles and telecommunications technology.
